New patient instructions

Please fill out online forms sent to your email prior to your initial appointment. The scheduled time is your check in time, so please arrive at that time.

Bring any relevant test results such as imaging reports or blood tests, a list of current medications, and be prepared to answer medical history questions regarding injuries/ surgical history, medical diagnoses, and details regarding your symptoms.

Upon arrival at our clinic, you will complete a new patient form to register as a patient with our clinic. This packet includes your health history, informed consent for treatment, and clinic policies agreement.

Once you have completed your registration, you will complete some additional assessments specific to your program and primary condition. If you have multiple concerns, we can help you determine which program to start with.

Our approach is holistic in general. So while we might focus on a specific issue, we always treat you as a whole person.

What to expect

Our licensed acupuncturists work as a team to provide you with comprehensive acupuncture and integrative wellness care, ensuring a consistently amazing experience with each and every provider. Most of our new patients say they wish they had come in to see us sooner!

  • Your first visit will be scheduled at the first available appointment with convenient morning, day, evening, and weekend hours. If you cannot make it to your appointment, please provide us with 24 hours notice as we often have patients urgently waiting to get in sooner.

  • Upon scheduling your first visit, our dedicated office assistants will give you all the information you need to be fully prepared for your first visit at our clinic.

  • Please eat within a few hours before your appointment, wear loose and comfortable clothing, and bring any relevant labs or imaging to be reviewed by your acupuncturist.

  • Your initial appointment will include new patient registration, a thorough assessment and consultation, and individualized treatment which can take about 90-120 minutes. We suggest scheduling up to 2 hours out of your day for this first visit.

  • Once you’re an established patient with our clinic, follow up appointments will take about 45-90 minutes. We will discuss how you’ve been feeling, check in with your body and symptoms, then get you relaxed with your treatment.

  • After your session, you should eat a good meal or snack, drink plenty of water, and follow any specific instructions given to you by your acupuncturist.

  • Depending on your condition, you may notice some changes in how you feel right away, but many conditions take a few visits to notice more significant results.

Insurance

Inner Balance Medicine is an acupuncture specialty provider with Veterans Affairs and Workmans Comp pain management programs. Your physician must write a referral for treatment and authorization is required through these programs.

As acupuncture specialist providers, we are in-network with some health plans, but we are out-of-network with most plans that have acupuncture benefits. Some health plans inaccurately list us as in-network providers, therefore pre-authorization of your benefits is required prior to any appointments that you intend for your insurance plan to cover. Please contact us for more information.

If you have insurance benefits for acupuncture, we must pre-authorize treatment with your insurance carrier prior to starting treatment. Our pre-authorization process is quick and easy, just give us a call and have your insurance card ready.

Currently, even though acupuncture is an effective treatment for many conditions, most insurance companies limit acupuncture coverage to qualifying pain conditions.

Rates & payments disclosure for time of service and third party billing procedures: Due to decreased administrative cost for payment at time of service, our cash rates for patients paying out of pocket (listed above) are discounted from our insurance and third party billing rates. To receive our time of service/cash rates, payment in full at time of service is required.
